This is where I get to explain all my boxes that aren't already self-explanatory!!!

Random:  This just includes links that I go to fairly frequently....though some I don't visit that much, so they are TRULY random!!

Santa Fe:  This has to do with the course College Success.   I've also included a link to the Univeristy of Florida's LUIS system.  The library is an excellent place to find info, and here's just a sample of what's out there with regard to Naval officers.

Title:
The Naval officer's career planning guidebook.
Edition:
    1990 ed.
Published:
    <Washington, D.C.? : Naval Military Personnel Command>, 1990.
Description:
    x, 122, 2 p. : ill. ; 22 cm.

LOCATION: CALL NUMBER: STATUS:
LIBRARY WEST D 208.6/3:C 18/3 Not checked out
Documents

Just type whatever you're looking for in the search field, and LUIS will take you there.  If you click on the call number, you'll find the other books surrounding the one that came up, since similar books tend to be shelved together.  You can also mark the books you want so that they can be emailed to you for your convenience.

Physics/Science:  I am a Physics major, so I have including some links that I find interesting in relation to Physics and science in general.  I'm not certain as to what branch of Physics I would like to concentrate in, so I left my links somewhat general.  I plan to incorporate Physics into whatever career I choose, especially since I plan to be a Nuclear Surface Warfare Officer in the Navy.

Navy:  Since I plan to retrun to the Navy (or Marine Corps), I have included a few helpful links for those interested.  I included the home page of the ship I was on over the summer.  It was an excellent experience, and I got a taste of the "real Navy."

Marine Corps:  Since the Marine Corps is under the department of the Navy and I may choose this branch of service for my career, I felt it a must to include.  Not to mention that my fianc's a Marine, and he would probably clobber me if I didn't mention "his Corps"!!  So Devil Dogs, feel free to check these links out!  To note, I found more general military information pages through the Marine Corps web sites rather than through the Navy sites.  For example, through the Marine Corps sites, I found the pay charts for enlisted and officers and the Uniform Code of Military Justice, both of which apply to all servicemen and women irregardless of the branch of service.

USNA/ROTC:  These include links to the Naval Academy and the ROTC program at UF, which I plan to get involved in if I ever get over there!!  There are also links to activites I was involved in.  I helped design the D&B page, in case anyone wants to check that out!!  And there is a link to my fiancee's home page which links to other interesting things relating to some of the projects he's involved in.

The Literature Box:  I took a class on Shakespeare, and I kept the links because I enjoy reading his plays!  It's another random box only with more of a purpose!

Summary:  The most informative pages about the Navy and Marine Corps are going to be their main pages, vice the Academy and NROTC pages I linked to.  Afterall, why sign up with one of the commissioning programs if you don't know about what you'll be commissioned into!  The USS Coronado link is there to give you just a specific example of  Navy life.  The Marine Corps link offers a page devoted solely to MOSs (Military Occupational Specialty), which actually lets you see the exact jobs you can do in the Marine Corps as enlisted or officer.  I did not find such a link for the Navy; it might be there, though, and I just didn't see it!  Of the physics pages, I found the links to the magazines (New Scientist and Scientific American), the FAQ links, and the space link to be the most interesting.  Of the magazines, I found Scientific American to be the most interesting, probably because I actually read the magazine when I can.

If anyone has any questions regarding a career path in the Navy or Marine Corps or has an interest in the field of physics, please contact me:
